The Bronx Zoo

Central Park Zoo

While not nearly as large as the Bronx Zoo, the Central Park Zoo holds its own with an indoor rainforest,  leafcutter ant colony,  temperature-controlled penguin house and polar bear pool. The 6.5 acre space also coordinates breeding programs for some endangered species.

The fourth carousel to be installed in the park since 1871, this New York City Landmark now serves over 250,000 riders every year. The restored ride is popular among children, and open daily April–November, 10:00am-6:00pm, weather permitting.

Broadway Shows

While not all Broadway shows are meant  for children, quite a few are actually designed  for them. The Lion King, Annie, Matilda, Cinderella and Newsies for example, will be enjoyed by the whole family. There ares some great seats at prices much lower than the official sites, on the web.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Founded in 1910, the Brooklyn Botanic  Garden welcomes over 900,000 visitors each year to its 52-acre space. Plant collections include climate-themed plant pavilions, a Bonsai Museum and a cast-iron and glass aquatic plant house.

Exploring a city as a family can be exhausting, but when the kids know they’ll be going to Serendipity at the end of the day,  things have  a way of getting easier. Over-the-top food including the $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae have made Serendipity a well-known  New York institution. Of course most of the menu is reasonably priced – but still an experience!
