Three-time Tony Award winner, Wicked New York Broadway presents a different narrative on Oz, Dorothy’s alternative reality in L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show depicts the perspective of the two witches: Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda (or Glinda), the Good Witch of the North. The two clash over their opinions on the corrupt government of the wizard, a mutual love interest and their personalities in general.
Wicked New York City suggests that the Wicked Witch of the West is actually a misunderstood victim, whose behavior is in fact a reaction against the wizard's corrupt rule. The show’s clever symbolism and social commentary, the Wicked New York musical score and outstanding cast performances have made the show an audience favorite, breaking box office records and spawning productions all over the world
